Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in clear language, how QR & Barcode Scanner handles information when you use the Android application.
1. Interpretation and definitions
Application means QR & Barcode Scanner. You means the person using the Application. Scanned content means a QR code, barcode value, image, Wi-Fi credential, contact card, link, or other content you choose to scan. Local storage means storage on your device that is controlled through the Application and Android.
2. Who is responsible for this app
QR & Barcode Scanner Support is responsible for this app. For privacy questions or requests, contact smartscansupport@gmail.com.
3. Information we collect
We do not operate a server that collects your scanned QR codes, barcode values, selected images, scan history, contacts, Wi-Fi credentials, or generated QR content.
QR & Barcode Scanner does not require account registration and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, microphone, SMS, or calendar permission.
4. Accounts, analytics, and retention
QR & Barcode Scanner does not provide user accounts, sign-in, social login, payments, behavioral analytics, A/B testing, or advertising in Version 1.0.4 Because we do not collect scanned content on our servers, we do not retain scanned content on a server. Local history remains on your device until you delete it.
If privacy law gives you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, contact us. For locally stored data, you can directly clear history and favorites from the Application settings.
5. How scanning works
Live camera scanning, image scanning, barcode recognition, and QR generation are processed locally on your device whenever possible. QR & Barcode Scanner does not upload camera frames, selected images, or decoded scan contents to our servers for recognition.
The barcode recognition model may be downloaded or updated by Google Play services during app installation or first use. This may use an internet connection managed by Google Play services. This delivery does not send your scanned images or decoded code content to QR & Barcode Scanner.
Some scan actions deliberately open another app or website at your request, such as opening a link, Maps, a browser, an email app, SMS app, phone dialer, contacts app, calendar app, Wi-Fi settings, sharing sheet, or product search. Those apps and services apply their own privacy policies.
6. Permissions
- Camera: QR & Barcode Scanner requests camera access when its primary scanner experience opens. It is used only to display the viewfinder and recognize QR codes and barcodes. The camera does not run in the background.
- Photo selection: Image scanning uses Android’s system Photo Picker where available. QR & Barcode Scanner does not request broad access to your entire media library for this purpose.
- Vibration: Used only for optional local scan feedback when enabled in Settings.
- Legacy Android 8–9 storage: May be used only when you explicitly save a generated QR image on those older Android versions.
You can deny or revoke permissions at any time through Android Settings. Denying Camera permission prevents live scanning but does not prevent other non-camera areas of the app from opening.
7. Local storage, history, and deletion
Scan history, favorites, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. QR & Barcode Scanner disables Android app backup for this release so this local app data is not included in Android cloud backup through the application.
You can delete scan history and favorites from Settings. You can also choose to export or share content; these actions occur only after you tap the relevant action.
8. Data sharing, advertising, and analytics
Version 1.0.4 does not display advertisements, initialize ad requests, or use analytics to collect scanned content. QR & Barcode Scanner does not sell, rent, trade, or use your scanned content for advertising.
QR & Barcode Scanner may use an internet connection only when you explicitly choose an external online action, or when Android/the selected external app requires it. Cleartext HTTP traffic is disabled by the app.
9. Data Safety summary
- Scanned content is processed locally for recognition.
- Local history is retained on your device until you delete it.
- We do not collect scanned content on our own servers.
- We do not share scanned content unless you explicitly use a share, export, open, or external-app action.
- We do not sell personal information.
10. Security
QR & Barcode Scanner uses Android-supported APIs and local processing where possible. No software can guarantee absolute security. Please review QR links before opening them, especially links that are unencrypted, use numeric IP addresses, or appear obfuscated.
11. Children’s privacy
QR & Barcode Scanner is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Because scanning is processed locally and we do not operate scan-content collection servers, we do not knowingly collect scanned data from children.
12. International users
QR & Barcode Scanner does not transfer scanned content to our servers. If you choose to open or share content using an external service, that service may process data in other countries under its own policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app practices change. The current version will be published at this page with an updated effective date.
14. Contact and response time

We aim to acknowledge and respond to privacy-related requests within 30 days, or within any shorter period required by applicable law.
